| LOS GATOS SALVAJES "LOS GATOS SALVAJES" | LP | NF1203 | $12 |
![]() |
Just two years after their participation in the No Fun Records split album Waves of Reverb, Sea of Fuzz. Vol. 1, this prestigious instro outfit is back at the label with a second album Otro Reverberante Encuentro con Los Kahunas. The record joins an extensive international catalog of top-notch artists from a variety of garage scenes from around the world such as Flaming Sideburns (Finland), Forgotten Boys (Brazil), The Defectors (Denmark), Manganzoides (Peru), and Motosierra (Uruguay) among others. No Funs latest releases include the complete recordings by no other than Argentinean 60s Beat legends Los Gatos Salvajes. In this new release, these four reverb, tremolo, and fuzz addicts continue to deliver pure instro surf. This time around their compositions, sound, and performances are more refined, while they still keep the vintage sound they so much embrace. Along these lines, this record delivers a great variety of moods: steaming compositions such as 6G15, California Kustom, and Daredevil; refreshingly happy tunes such as Candy Smile, and Bakos, el Terrible; lounge epics such as Ocean Boulevard; sentimental ballads such as Deeper than the Sea, Verdemar; an acoustic version Wave of Love; and classic covers such as The Hearse (The Astronauts), Heads Up (The Lively Ones), Lanky Bones (Eddie and the Showmen), The Rise & Fall of Flingel Bunt (The Shadows), and The Creeper (The Ventures). Special mention goes out to the wide variety of impressive deluxe guest musicians on the record: Gustavo Chizzo Napoli (from national act La Renga), who contributed an outstanding guitar solo; Sr. Flavio (from internationally renown, grammy-winning group Los Fabulosos Cadillacs), who contributed some amazing standup bass; Ricardo Harbek (from no other than popular mainstream acts such as Pastoral and Victor Heredia), who contributed decades of experience on keyboards; and Luis Taboada (Fernando Goin Trio, Historia del Crimen), who contributed some very elegant acoustic guitar work.Currently, Los Kahunas are experiencing a particularly interesting moment in their career. After sharing the stage with national old school act Massacre at The Roxy, the band gears up to their official record release party scheduled at the traditional Unione e Benevolenza club. The record release party will mark the beginning of a promotional tour that will take them to major cities such as La Plata, Rosario, Cordoba, Mar del Plata, and the Patagonia region. The tour will end with the popular Surf Party festival, where the band will perform with Daddy-O Grande, legendary guitar player for Los Straitjackets. Ladies and Gentlemen, No Fun Records proudly presents Los Kahunas deluxe surf explosion Otro Reverberante Encuentro con Los Kahunas. |
| LOS GATOS SALVAJES "LOS GATOS SALVAJES" | LP | NF1203 | $12 |
![]() |
No Fun Records proudly presents this musical milestone, a definite masterpiece and cult recording in terms of Latin American, or even worldwide, Beat music. Los Gatos Salvajes started out as a group of young teenagers from Rosario (a significant capital city of one of the Argentine provinces) obsessed with the British Invasion, who went on to make history with their music. They were ahead of their time and place, especially if compared with their more adult contemporaries, who had not yet shown any signs of the Beatles, the Stones or Yardbirds (although they would pick up on them a couple years later). Los Gatos Salvajes were different; their compositions were stripped down, primitive, and their sound was repetitive, filled with beat-sounding guitars and Farfisa organ, at a time in history when this was not exactly considered an asset. More than anything, they were original, becoming the first band to compose and sing original songs in Spanish. And, as these recordings show, they were Salvajes indeed, both live and in the studio. We are re-releasing the LP exactly as it came out in 1965, both in terms of artwork and sound, and it's the first time in history that this album is re-released in such a way. This record got the history of beat, garage, and even psych music started in Argentina and other parts of Latin America. |
| LOS GATOS SALVAJES "COMPLETE RECORDINGS" | CD | NFCD021 | $12 |
![]() |
Los Gatos Salvajes started out in 1964 under the name of The Wild Cats. They switched to using the Spanish version of their name when Litto Nebbia joined them and the band moved to Buenos Aires. Once in the big city, they were hired by a national TV station to be showcased live, where they recorded a few singles. In 1965 they released their self-titled first album, which manifested and immortalized the musical wealth this young band was capable of, even when it was based on the simplicity of their compositions, as it often happens with such things. No Fun Records puts on its best pair of Beatle boots to welcome this CD, that features outstanding artwork, especially designed to reflect the spirit of 1965, and photographs never seen before. It also features special liner notes by Litto Nebbia y Ciro Fogliatta, and a total of 27 tracks, which make up the entire album, all of the band's singles, TV performances, live recordings, and home demos. Absolutely everything the band ever recorded. |
| THE DEFECTORS "GIVE IN AND CREEP OUT WITH..." | CD | NFCD020 | $12 |

The Defectors care: for girls, for cars, for cigarettes and beer and fuzzed out rock'n'roll! Straight out of the cold Nordic winter comes one of today's hottest bands. Calling themselves "the evil fuzzkings of Denmark," The Defectors have come to rock your world. They invade the US via this CD that combines the best of their latest album "Turn Me On" and several hand-picked tracks from their upcoming European release on Bad Afro, which show the bands more creepy side. These guys have already achieved major recognition in Scandinavia and are now ready to take on the rest of the world with their brand of dark garage-punk, full of fuzz and farfisa, very reminiscent of the Fuzztones, The Lyres and even The Cramps. Smoking or non-smoking? Smoking, definitely. And steaming, roaring, ripping and mind-blowing as well. Garage-punk rockers, dont miss out, this is IT! |
| THE AVATARS "NEVER A GOOD TIME" | CD | NFCD019 | $12 |
| After a catchy single produced by Jeff Meier (Detroit Cobras, Rocket 455), hundreds of shows, and performances at international festivals, The Avatars are back to deliver their sonic debut album that documents the bands intense live sound while adding to it with a mix of local Detroit talent from John Szymanski (SSM, The Hentchmen) on piano and organ, Eric Stollsteimer (The Elevations, Mondo Mod) on vibes, and Jeremy Abbey (Superdot) on saxophone. The 10 rocking tracks bristle with up-beat pop energy that picks up the legacy that The Ramones, The Romantics and Nikki Corvette started 3 decades ago. The Avatars add their own fresh sound to the best of 60s garage, the spirit of 77, and 80s power pop. Recorded at Ghetto Recorders in Detroit by Motor City hit maker Jim Diamond, and produced by John Speck (The Fags). Guaranteed to always make you have a good time. |

Someone had to release the brilliant debut album by this well-established Detroit band, and so we did! Originally known as the Bloody Hollys, The Cyril Lords have made a name for themselves and have a solid career behind them due to a long history of rocking live shows and singles, that gained them praise from internationally acclaimed publications, and the opportunity to share bills with the likes of Andre Williams, The Cramps, Link Wray, The Datsuns, and Detroit Cobras, to name a few. The band waited a long time to put out this debut album, and the wait was well worth it considering the final recording is probably going to be remembered as one of the best records to have come out of the Motor City.
