UPCOMING RELEASES. We're getting closer to the release date of "Give
Me More (And More)" by the Brazilians FORGOTTEN BOYS and there have been
a few last minute changes worth noting: most importantly, the release will
not count with 4 live bonus tracks...even better though, instead, the extra
tracks will come from the rocking tracks that once made up the FORGOTTEN BOYS/KILLER
DOLLS split album that has been entirely sold out since 2002 and that was
always hard-to-find in the first place due to the fact that it only came out
in a limited edition of 1000 copies that were never commercialized outside
of Brazil. These tracks were the ones that gave these forgotten boys their
current fame of rock'n'roll gods and it will be your one and only chance to
get them!
DEALS, DEALS, DEALS!!! Our sweet X-MAS SPECIAL is about to end, but you can
still place your orders and get the nice discounts until Dec 31st of this
year.
NO FUN FAMILY. Here's something for ya: the return of THEE CORONADOS!!! We
know this is unexpected and that many of you will be very excited about this!!!
Yes, it is true. After separating when No Fun moved its HQ to the U.S., CORONADOS
is now re-forming, with an almost all-girl, all-American line-up this time,
just as rocking and just as ready to tour South America next 2004. Wanna set
up shows?, up North or down South!, contact us at coronados@nofunrecords.com
NBL. Our NATURAL BORN LOSERS that's
been in great demand and that was published last month on paper is now on-line.
Spanish version only this time around, sorry folks! Highlights: Interviews
with THEE BUTCHERS' ORCHESTRA and THE TANDOORIS.
OUTRAGEOUS GOODIES. Our pins have been a success, so while we continue designing
new collectors' series, we've added hard-to-find (for real!) high quality
prints to our on-line
store in Other Trash. Nothing beats owning some good rock'n'roll
art to decorate your place to impress!
Holiday Greetings, Rock'n'Rollers! And best 2004 wishes! New Year's Day
Resolution: BUY RECORDS!!!
NOVEMBER 2003
Wow,
it's been a busy month...
UPCOMING RELEASES. NO FUN RECORDS proudly announces that the label's upcoming
release will be MANGANZOIDES' "Radio Komodo," which also marks the
happy return of our favorite Peruvian band to the label. Their new record
features 18 tracks. 8 of these tracks were recorded in mid 2003, 2 of the
tracks correspond to a studio session that took place in 2002, and the rest
come out of the band's very 1st independent cassette tape release dating back
to 1998. None of these tracks were ever released
before on
CD format and 10 of them were never released before in any format whatsoever.
Liner notes for this CD are by no other than Sir Michael Lucas (Phantom Surfers)
who, as a true MANGANZOIDES fan, was delighted to be asked to put his thoughts
in writing for our release. For your pleasure, you can listen to "Al
Pantano," an
inedit track from this album in the sounds
section of this page.
NO FUN RECORDS will also release "Gimme More (and more)" by Brazilian
powerhouse FORGOTTEN BOYS. This full length was originally released in Brazil,
under the name of "Gimme More," but it is literally impossible to
find it outside of Brazil. No Fun's edition will also have 4 bonus tracks,
3 of which are live tracks of top notch quality and sound and 1 is an entirely
inedit exclusive studio track. Check out what the hype's about in sounds.
PRESS. NO FUN was featured and quoted in the November issue of "No"
magazine of Pagina 12, a major newspaper in the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Buenos Aires garage scene, made up by several of the No Fun bands, served
as the theme for the cover of the magazine. The extensive 2-page full-color
central article featured, among other bands, THE TANDOORIS, and former members
of KILLER DOLLS, currently in The Tormentos. To view the electronic version
of this article click here.
ON THE ROAD. NO FUN
just got back from supporting several of its bands on tour throughout Southern
South America for a few very special dates that included those of the yearly
2-day B.A. Stomp fest. The Brazilians BUTCHERS' ORCHESTRA performed to a full
house (and it was a big house!) in Buenos Aires, Argentina where they shared
the bill with Guitar Wolf from Japan and the Monsters from Switzerland, among
other acts. During their impeccably chaotic set, they were joined by Elio
Martinez of ELIO & THEE HORRIBLES fame, a long gone sold out gem in the
No Fun catalog. THEE BUTCHERS' ORCHESTRA also played other local shows while
in town, although unfortunately their Uruguayan dates with, also No Fun recording
artists, MOTOSIERRA, had to be cancelled due to their drummer's leg injury.
THE TANDOORIS, who's recently been getting the attention of the European market,
also shared the stage with TBO and all the other bands on the bill in Buenos
Aires, and put on a wonderfully trippy Garage-Beat show. Both bands blasted
through excellent sets, and you can witness some of the fun digitally captured
in photos.
NATURAL BORN LOSERS. At the fest, No Fun launched, to everyone's delight,
issue #11 of Natural Born Losers (Spanish edition so far, sorry folks!), the
label's publication that had been very much missed and was in very high demand
in the South American scene, who had been accustomed to refer to our NBL for
juicy news and exclusive interviews of Latin American and other hot international
up-and-coming acts. The publication was completely gone in a matter of hours,
and we still owe copies to a bunch of people! Coming! Coming!
ON THE ROAD (Cont.). Well, it was time to pack up again, and No Fun then rejoined
TBO in their native Brazil for one more rocking date at Sao Paulo's old school
Black Jack Rock Bar with The Monsters from Switzerland. Brazil gave us the
chance to meet up with tons of friends, our Brazilian distributor included,
all of whom gave us a warm welcome and offered assistance at various levels.
While in Sao Paulo we also attended Outs, a smoky Paulista joint, for a sold
out, powerful and heated gig by the latest band added to the No Fun family,
FORGOTTEN BOYS. These forgotten boys of high energy rock'n'roll are no strangers
to No Fun, as they had toured Brazil back in 2001 with the band that got the
label started, KILLER DOLLS, as well as with THEE CORONADOS in 2002. For sure
there is nothing forgettable about these boys' live act...and their well-deserved
recognition's been paying off, as it showed recently when their guitar player
was asked to join the Hellacopters on stage to play for an audience of 25,000
fans at a mega Brazilian show that also featured Sepultura and Deep Purple
!?! Couldn't be there? Dont' worry, here are photos.
THANKS. And after one more packing up of luggage, dragging music merch around,
airport switching, plane ride and all, there were no rock shows where we arrived,
but the ocean sure was nice and warm in Rio!
No Fun would like to thank everyone who came out to support the label during
all these shows. It was great to see old friends and look forward to keeping
in touch with all the music biz friends we made on the road.

SEPTEMBER 2003
RECORD FAIRS / SUMMER FESTIVALS. So, what's been shakin'
for the label this September? Non Fun participated in 3 big events/fairs/fests
in the Midwest. The label first appeared in Detroit's Dally in the Alley.
We then took a trip to ChiTown for the Renegade Fair in the happening neighborhood
of Wicker Park in Chicago. We drove over night to make it back in time to
have the label present at the all-day Seventh Day fest happening in Detroit.
All
3
events were well attended and successful. It was a great chance to see old
friends of the label, and we thank everyone new who showed interest on the
label and supported the business.
PRESS. NO FUN was also the cover of Lo-Fi Magazine in Buenos Aires, Argentina
that featured a lenghty interview on the label's operations, activities and
new direction since their move to the U.S.
UPCOMING RELEASES. Now, the big news is that No Fun has a few big surprises
in store for the end of the year involving some serious Peruvian cavemen (Los
Saicos lovers, watch the hell out!) and Brazilian monsters of Rock featuring
on hell of a guitar player who lately joined the Hellacopters on stage during
their recent Brazilian tour. Wow. The names will remain a mystery for now,
but more details to come shortly. Suspense is always good...
AUGUST 2003
TOURS. MOTOSIERRA is embarking on their long-awaited FODA TOUR 2003 that will
take the monsters of Uruguayan rock throughout South and Southeast Brazil
during September. On some of the dates they will be sharing the bill with
Brazilian locals, and also No Fun recording artists, THEE BUTCHERS' ORCHESTRA.

you an incredible excuse to take a trip down to sunny Brazil!
RE-RELEASES.
The demand was such that we have recently reissued the Argentinean edition
of THE TANDOORIS amazing
debut CD "Walking
Blind". Its first edition, only released
in March of this year, entirely sold out in less than 5 months. The exposure
brought to the band via their No Fun release has served their career very
well; the band is now back in the studio to release new material on a cool
European label!!! More info on the good news to come.
JULY
2003
ON-LINE STORE. MOTOSIERRA
continues
on the successful road of crediting releases to their name in a variety of
formats around the world. You can find many of these releases in our on-line
store

ALMOST
OUT-OF-PRINT. Several of the No Fun releases are about to go out of print
and, since we're working on new releases at the moment, they will not be re
released any time soon. Consider getting LOS
ULTRASONOROS, RESTOS FOSILES, THE FLAMING
SIDEBURNS, or THEE CORONADOS/CROW KING & THE HARDFINGERS split
while the last few copies are still available, or join the ranks of those
who now regret not getting their copy of the ELIO
& THEE HORRIBLES vs
VISION X
split
while it was still around.
JUNE 2003
RELEASES.
The US edition of "Walking
Blind" by THE
TANDOORIS has been postponed for now but all of you, lovers
for Garage-Punk and Power-Pop, can still get the Argentine edittion of this
gem.
MAY 2003
THE
TANDOORIS
Debut
CD,
"Walking
Blind", has surfaced as the new sensation in the Buenos Aires scene.
If you dig 60s Garage Punk, with a little Power Pop and early Rolling Stones
feel to it, then this is your band. THE
TANDOORIS signature sound is defined by the Photosizer, an electronic
device designed and built by Juan Bordon, the band's very own bass player,
that emanates wild sounds through a light sensitive sensor called fotoclitoris.
The Photosizer requires 2 operators: the light man and the so-called exciter,
or board's operator. Go to the sounds
page and listen to the MP3s by this amazing 3-piece. Released both by No Fun
Records Argentina (very limited, soon-to-be rare edition) and by No Fun Records
USA, this last one featuring two bonus tracks plus a video (CD-Rom). Go to
the releases
page for further info.
NEW
RELEASES. THEE BUTCHERS' ORCHESTRA "Drag me Twice".
Special release from this thrilling Brazilian band featuring their two albums
("Golden Hits" and "In Glorious R'n'R") in one CD. TBO
ended up having to cancel their awaited U.S. Tour due to American visa problems,
but will be touring the States sometime in 2004. Check out our extensive interview
with the band in the upcoming issue of the Natural Born Losers e-zine. To
listen to some tracks from this record go to the sounds
page. For further info go to releases.
NO
FUN RECORDS USA.
No
Fun Records moved to the City of Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. This new branch,
located in the city that gave us the Stooges, the Rationals, the MC5 and much
more, will be, from now on, the label's headquarters. However, having official
distributors in Argentina and Brazil, the label will continue its strong presence
in South America, both in terms of signing bands from those countries and
also in terms of reaching that market for bands from outside South America,
and will of course continue its established distribution around the world.
For more info on how to get any of our releases please go to how
to order.
MUSIC. Go to the MP3 of the Month section, in the sounds
