nfcd027.jpgAfter a mind-blowing edition of NO FUN’s yearly “Sounds From Thee Underground,” NO FUN proudly announces the signing of THUNDERBOLT PATTERSON of Dictators fame. His latest work “The LP Is Dead” drops Monday November 16!

First a little recap of this year’s NO FUN yearly Fest/Showcase, now on its 7th rendition, and the events that led to the signing.

The festival brought us an incredible line-up, no other than one of Punk Rock's 10 Mightiest Guitar Gods, Richard Lloyd of Television in an ultra rare appearance with THUNDERBOLT PATTERSON, of Dictators and Manitoba’s Wild Kingdom fame. As is customary, one of the artists gets signed to the label after showcasing at the festival. The festival’s line up also included NO FUN recording artists THE DIALS, who recently shared the stage with the B52s and Shonen Knife. Previous renditions of the festival resulted in the following signings: 2001- ELIO & THEE HORRIBLES and RESTOS FOSILES, 2002-THE TANDOORIS, 2004-THE HARD LESSONS, 2005-THE CYRIL LORDS, 2006-THE DEFECTORS, 2007-THE DIALS.

This year we were blown away by the power powerpop awesomeness of THUNDERBOLT PATTERSON’s new material. Needless to say, we were also blown away by his overpowering raw energy at the drums when backing Lloyd live at the festival. Drum hero, anyone? We think so! And so we inked the deal.

NO FUN RECORDS is most proud to welcome THUNDERBOLT PATTERSON to the label’s roster for the release of “The LP Is Dead” scheduled to drop Monday November 16th (NFCD-027). Mark your rock’n’roll calendars! Pre-orders can be placed This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Limited quantities, so hurry if you want to stuff those Christmas stockings with the release of the year!

THUNDERBOLT PATTERSON’s been a household name in the NYC drumming punk rock scene, having mainly built a career with The Dictators, although having also played with everyone from Lemmy Kilmister (Motörhead) to Joey Ramone (The Ramones). It only makes sense that “The LP Is Dead” is a killer power PowerPop record with a NYC signature sound, filled with one catchy tune after another. The record also sets itself apart in that THUNDERBOLT PATTERSON composed, produced, and played drums on it. The "LP Is Dead" is also PATTERSON’s debut as a lead vocalist. The product is definitely something fresh and unique. And PATTERSON’s background itself is as fascinating as his record, having grown up in Afghanistan and lived in Rwanda and Zambia before settling in New York City.

THUNDERBOLT PATTERSON endorses Vic Virth sticks, Pearl drums, Remo heads, Sabian cymbals, and Latin Percussion.

Just so that you fully embrace this album, “The LP Is Dead” won’t be coming out on vinyl (bad joke), although a very special digital release is in the works (for real).

The album will be exclusively distributed by Get Hip, and release parties are TBA.

So stay tuned for more news on this release and reviews as they start to arrive. In the meantime, you can visit THUNDERBOLT PATTERSON at http://www.myspace.com/thunderboltpatterson or http://www.myspace.com/thunderboss

“The LP Is Dead” out Monday November 16. That’s what I said.
